Terms of service
Plain English, and shorter than most. If something here is unclear, ask before you rely on it — we would rather explain than argue about it later.

Wordcheck is a business based at 117 St Pauls Avenue, Harrow, Middlesex, HA3 9PT, United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@wordcheck.co.uk.
By creating an account or using the service you accept these terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you are allowed to bind it.
Wordcheck reads writing and reports on how it reads: whether it leans on stock phrasing, whether its sentence rhythm is flat, whether it matches a voice you have taught it. It can rewrite text towards those goals, and it can check text against sources on the web for unattributed overlap.
This section matters more than the rest of these terms, so it is not buried at the bottom.
Keep your password to yourself, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has it. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including what people you invite to it do. Give us an email address you actually read — it is how we reach you about your account and about anything going wrong.
One person, one login. Do not pass a single account around a team; add seats instead, which is what the plans are for.
Our acceptable use policy forms part of these terms. In short: use Wordcheck on writing you have the right to use, do not use it to pass off someone else's work or to break the rules of an institution you belong to, and do not use it to impersonate a real person.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches it. Where a breach is not serious and can be put right, we will say what needs to change first.
You keep every right you had in the text you put into Wordcheck, and in the text that comes out. We claim no ownership of either.
You give us a limited licence to store and process your content solely to provide the service to you — to analyse it, rewrite it if you ask, check it for overlap if you ask, and back it up so you do not lose it. That licence ends when you delete the content or close your account.
We do not use your content to train models, ours or anyone else's, and we do not sell it or share it for marketing.
You confirm you have the right to put the text into Wordcheck in the first place — that it is yours, or that whoever owns it is content for you to use it this way.
Where your text goes is set out in the privacy policy, and it is worth reading before you paste in anything confidential. In summary: the analysis, the voice profiles and the built-in rewriting run on our own server in London. Optional features — AI rewriting through an external model, and web or deep originality checking — send your text to a third party, and we name which one.
Plans and their limits are set out on the pricing page, which forms part of these terms. Prices are in pounds sterling and exclude VAT unless stated otherwise.
Cancel whenever you like, from your account. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, and we do not charge you again.
We do not give partial refunds for time left on a period, or for credits already spent. If Wordcheck did not do what we said it would, tell us — we would rather sort it out than hold your money on a technicality.
If you are a consumer rather than a business, your statutory cancellation rights under UK law apply and nothing here removes them. Because the service is delivered digitally and immediately, starting to use it within the cancellation period may bring that right to an end.
We work to keep Wordcheck running, and we take backups every hour, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. There will be maintenance, and occasionally there will be faults. We do not offer an uptime guarantee or service credits, and you should not build a deadline around the assumption that any online service will be up.
A report you generate for a client sits at an unlisted web address protected by a long random token, and is excluded from search engines. Anyone holding that link can open the report, so treat the link as the key. You choose what goes into a report and who you send it to.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
Subject to that, and so far as the law allows:
The service is provided as it is. We exclude all warranties not expressly given here, so far as the law permits.
You may close your account at any time. We may end this agreement, or suspend access, if you materially breach these terms or the acceptable use policy, or if we stop offering the service — in which case we will give reasonable notice and a way to export your data.
When an account is closed we delete its content on the schedule set out in the privacy policy.
We may change these terms — to reflect a new feature, a change in the law, or a change in what we charge. For anything that materially affects you we will give at least 30 days' notice by email, and you may cancel before it takes effect. The date at the top always says when this page last changed.
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still stands. If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given up the right to. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent; we may transfer ours if the business is sold, and your rights are unaffected.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
